PVC defines the appearance and durability of the surface, but it's the zipper that determines whether the bag closes properly when full, and it's the strap that determines whether it stays comfortable after an hour of movement. A bag with perfect material but a zipper that jams, or a shoulder strap that slips off, quickly loses much of its everyday usefulness.

That's why, when choosing components, reliable glide, solid attachment, and how well they support the weight the bag is designed to carry all matter. They're secured to the material during stitching, not added afterward as an afterthought.

The zipper is the most stressed point of the bag: it opens and closes multiple times a day, and it's also one of the points where water most easily finds its way in during heavy or prolonged rain. It's secured to the material during stitching, following the edge of the opening with precision.

A zipper that glides smoothly and closes all the way is the first defense against rain and splashes: a bag left partially open, even with the most suitable material, protects less than one carefully closed. It's not waterproof in an absolute sense—during heavy downpours water can find a way through—but it makes a difference in everyday use.

Adjustable straps, buckles, and rings serve two purposes: letting you adapt the shoulder strap or handle to your body, and distributing the weight of the load across the points of the bag designed to support it. They're among the most stressed points in daily use, along with the zipper.

Don't force the zipper. If it meets resistance, often it's enough to check that there's no fabric or piece of material caught in the teeth. Dry after rain. Zippers and metal parts should be dried along with the rest of the bag before storing it, to prevent moisture from being trapped near the seams.

Avoid overloading. Overloading the bag beyond the capacity intended for the model is the most common way straps and buckles are put under excessive stress. Adjust gently. Adapt the length of the straps without pulling hard on the attachment rings, especially when they're new and still stiff.

If you often carry a laptop or heavy items, pay attention to how the straps are secured: a solid attachment matters more than an aesthetic detail. If you move around often in the rain, a zipper that closes properly all the way is more important than greater capacity left open.

For lighter use, as an everyday bag or for special occasions, the balance between strap comfort and component weight becomes the main criterion.
