printed pvc,
the material that brings
every bagful®. to life
Every Bagful® bag, backpack, and accessory starts from a roll of white PVC, printed with the model's design and then hand-cut and sewn in our workshop in the Venetian hinterland. It is not a coated fabric or a generic synthetic leather: it is a material with a compact surface, designed to stay clean, resist daily friction, and carry graphics with sharp colors.
what is printed pvc, a still blank canvas
Printed PVC begins its life white, like a blank canvas. On that surface, the design and graphics that give the bag its character take color, even before it is cut. Unlike a fabric, it doesn't have a weave that absorbs water or dirt: dirt stays on the surface, and the color is part of the material itself, not a label placed on top.
This makes it different from both the nylon or cotton of fabric bags and from leather: it doesn't stain deeply, it doesn't dry out or crack like leather over time, and it maintains full colors and sharp edges in the graphics.

why bagful chose it
The choice of printed PVC is not an isolated aesthetic trend: it responds to a concrete need for a bag to be used in the city, between public transport, the office, and walking, without requiring special care. A material that can be cleaned with a cloth and does not absorb moisture is better suited to this use than a fabric that retains stains and odors.
There is also a reason of character: printed PVC allows for bold graphics, with colors that do not fade over time as can happen with fabric printing. For a brand that wants recognizability without resorting to bulky logos, it is a material that lets the design do the talking.
how it performs in daily use
Cleaning. Dust, surface dirt, and small stains can be removed with a damp cloth, without specific products. Performance with water. Light rain, humidity, and splashes stay on the surface without penetrating as they would in a fabric; the limit comes with immersion or prolonged heavy rain, when water finds its way through the openings.
Resistance to friction. The material holds up well to daily use — setting it down, rubbing, carrying — but over time small marks or creases may appear, as with any material in real-world use. Weight and handling. It is a relatively light material compared to leather for the same surface area, an aspect that affects how much the empty bag weighs.
No superpowers against extreme conditions: printed PVC is made to give its best in the city. If used as a daily bag and not as a technical outdoor container, it provides all the reliability you're looking for with minimal maintenance effort.

how a graphic is born on pvc
The design you see on a Bagful is not added to a finished bag: it is born with the model, right from the design stage. It takes color on the still-white PVC and, immediately after printing, receives a protective coating to better resist the small bumps of daily life. Only at this point is the material cut into individual pieces.
It is a shield that reduces the likelihood of a mark, it doesn't eliminate it entirely: the bag is made to be lived in, not to stay in a display case. From then on, sewing becomes a matter for expert hands, kept in local artisan workshops, where each piece finally takes its definitive shape.
the honest limits of the material
Printed PVC is not designed for immersion in water or for prolonged exposure to intense heat sources, which can alter the surface. Furthermore, it is not a material that repairs itself: sharp cuts or deep tears remain visible, unlike small surface marks that fade with the right care.
Finally, it is not a plant-based material: Bagful does not present it as a sustainable choice, but as a material chosen for durability, quick cleaning, and graphic performance.
how to choose based on the material
If you are looking for a practical accessory that requires very little care and maintains vivid colors over time, printed PVC is the exact answer. However, if your use involves prolonged exposure to heavy rain, remember that water resistance depends more on the overall construction — zippers, openings, and seams — than on the material itself.
The body of the bag, after all, is only half the story: it's details like zips, buckles, and straps that decide if the object closes properly and stays comfortable on the shoulder for an entire day on the go in the city.
